Persecution comes to the believers of Jesus Christ and those who follow him. When Jesus came into the world in all of his righteousness, he exposed all of the evil of the world - and he was hated for it. We have to remember that Jesus said, "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.
Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life. Revelation 2:10
Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. Hebrews 10:33
The LORD your God will put all these curses on your enemies who hate and persecute you. Deuteronomy 30:7
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:10
